The Vaquita

The vaquita, which means little cow in Spanish, is the world’s smallest porpoise and the most endangered marine mammal in the world.  It is estimated that here are only 60 of these individuals left on the planet.  Their range is quite small as they only inhabit the upper part of the Gulf of California.  The biggest threat to the survival of the vaquita is gill nets.
